Second season kicks off at Shelby County Community Gardens

More than 430 local gardeners are assigned free plots for planting food and flowers for the new planting season.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It was a lovely day to kick off the second season at the Shelby County Community Gardens.

More than 430 local gardeners are assigned free plots for planting food and flowers for the new planting season.

Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris said he is excited to kick off the new season, and mentioned that this is a great socially distanced hobby that will offer physical and mental health benefits - along with some beautiful plants and fresh foods.
