Men shot and killed by Arkansas state troopers identified

The two men that were shot and killed by Arkansas state troopers have been identified.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thursday, Arkansas State Police and US Marshall Task Force Officers were chasing one person that was wanted in South Carolina on felony warrants. 

During the chase, one person fired shots at the officers and hit one Arkansas State Trooper as he was returning fire in the area of I-55 and McLemore where the shooting happened. Both men in the car were hit and pronounced dead at the scene.

The two have been identified as Terrance Dogan, 27, and John H. Taylor, 18.

Dogan had seven warrants out of Lexington County, South Carolina for: 

  • Armed robbery
  • Attempted armed robbery
  • Pointing and presenting a firearm
  • Burglary
  • Kidnapping
  • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
  • Assault and battery

Terrance Marquise Dogan, 27

Arkansas State Trooper Spencer Morris was taken to Regional One, treated, and released.  He will make a full recovery.

Trooper Morris is 33 years old and a 3-year veteran of the Arkansas State Police Highway Patrol Division, Troop D, in Forrest City.

Trooper Morris is currently on paid administrative leave while an investigation involving the use of deadly force is underway.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will be conducting an investigation of all of the events that took place leading to the shooting.
