Second suspect charged in deadly Shelby County shooting last month

Deputies responded to the scene in the 5000 block of Blacksmith Dr. near N. Circle Road about 6 p.m. Saturday. They found one person shot.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE 11/11/2021 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said a second man is now charged in the deadly shooting of 33-year-old Maurice Walker on October 9, 2021.

22-year-old Tyler Wilson is charged with second degree murder and attempted second degree murder.

10/10/2021 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has identified the shooting victim as 33-year-old Maurice Walker. 

According to the sheriff's office, Denorius Butler, 26, was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder, attempted 2nd degree murder, tampering with evidence, employing a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony and felony drug charges.

10/9/2021 - Shelby County deputies are investigating a shooting just before 6:00 p.m. Saturday in northwest Shelby County.

Deputies responded to the scene in the 5000 block of Blacksmith Dr. near N. Circle Road. They found one person shot.

The victim was taken to Regional One in critical condition, where they died.

Investigators have not said what led to the shooting or released any information on suspects.
