Family and friends hold vigil for victim of unsolved murder

Family and friends of a soldier murdered near Beale Street are begging for justice four years after his death.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) Family and friends of a soldier murdered near Beale Street are begging for justice four years after his death.

A vigil was held Friday for Sergeant Calvin Wilhite, Jr. He was shot and killed on this day in 2015 as he walked with his fiancée near FedExForum. Police say two men in a green or grey Chrysler drove up to the couple, argued with Wilhite, and then shot and killed him.

The cameras at FedExForum captured the cowards, but it is his back. But someone knows who that coward is who the driver. It may not be someone here, but rest assured someone knows who killed Coo, said Whilhite’s mother.

Memphis Police Director Mike Rallings and members of the department also took park in the vigil.
