We are sending our sincerest condolences to the family, friends and former co-workers of longtime Memphis sports journalist George Lapides.
He died Friday morning following a long illness.
Lapides is best known for his sports talk radio show which ran for 45-years, the longest running daily radio show in the country. He worked for a decade at the Memphis CBS affiliate.
Lapides battled a lung disease for the past three years. He was 76 years old.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Temple Israel. A private burial is being held for family.
