Convicted murderer who escaped Mississippi prison captured in Nashville

Arthur Lestrick was serving a life sentence for capital murder.

JACKSON, Miss — UPDATE 7/7/2020 - Metro Nashville Police detectives & members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force arrested Arthur Lestrick Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE JULY 6 FROM MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

A reward up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to the capture of Mississippi State Penitentiary escapee Arthur Lestrick.

Lestrick, 40, was confirmed missing early Sunday morning from Unit 28. He is serving life for capital murder in Copiah County. He was sentenced Nov. 18, 2009.

Lestrick, MDOC #R4429, is a medium-complexioned black male of small build with brown eyes and black hair. He weighs 140 pounds at 5 feet, 5 inches tall.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections is searching for an inmate who escaped from the State Penitentiary in Parchman Sunday.

Authorities say Arthur Lestrick went missing from his work camp Sunday morning.

Lestrick is believed to be on foot. He is serving a life sentence for murder.
