Opinion | Haven't our hospital workers been put through enough? | Richard Ransom

ABC24 News Anchor Richard Ransom discusses in his Ransom Note about the upcoming surge of COVID cases

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In tonight’s Ransom Note: bracing for another surge.

If you catch COVID, but are vaccinated (especially with a booster), it won’t matter which variant you got, chances are you won’t even need to see a doctor let alone go to the hospital.

But if you’re still unvaxxed, the CDC says you are 10-12 times more likely to be hospitalized, even more likely to die, and will be directly responsible for (once again) stretching our hospitals to the brink.

Baptist Hospitals told us today of 59 COVID patients now in its care, 13 were admitted just over the past 24 hours. That is not a good sign.

So, the unvaccinated won’t only be needlessly stressing out our frontline workers, but also putting the health of others at risk, who may need our hospitals for anything from a heart attack to a car crash injury.
