MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police shut down part of Winchester Tuesday morning, after a fuel spill in the area.

The Memphis Fire Department said it got a call about a fuel spill at the Circle-K in the 8000 block of Winchester Road just after 9 a.m. Tuesday. The first crews who arrived found an unknown amount of gasoline on the ground, and immediately began working to keep the gas from going into the storm drain.

Winchester between Centennial and Hacks Cross was shut down and closed for Hazmat crews to clean up the area.

MFD said the Environmental Protection Agency was notified because of the possibility of the gasoline going into the storm drain.
