Lisa Akbari , also known as The Hair Doctor, a hair care pioneer; educator; has become a business pioneer and leader in our community.
A graduate of Hamilton High School '77, Lisa found early success at the age of 21 by opening her first full service salon. Within two years, she expanded to the first Day Spa and Salon in the Mid-South, giving the young Akbari national recognition.
A hair product innovator and constant educator, Lisa Akbari expanded her vision by creating Lisa Akbari's Hair Nutrition System and writing three books including the Black Women's Guide to Beautiful Hair, the #1 selling black hair care book in the country.
These products and books lent to Lisa being nationally recognized as a leader in her field with features in Jet, Essence and Cosmopolitan Magazines, but for Lisa, education and giving back was most important which is why she opened her Community Wellness Institute 501 (c) (3) which offers educational seminars, community outreach and charitable donations.
