Big time heat with some storms brewing Wednesday.

A batch of the hottest air we've seen in a while steams us up this afternoon before some storms later this evening.
There are two main players in your weather today, heat and the potential for stronger thunderstorms. We'll tackle the heat first. Morning temperatures are already hovering around 80° with a solid amount of humidity making for a steamy early commute. Most of Wednesday will be rain free leading to a huge spike in highs, they'll top in the mid and upper 90s. When you factor in the mugginess we'll have a heat index in the 100°-108° range, that's dangerous. Now to your storm potential; a cold front is sliding southeast into the Midsouth with showers and storms developing ahead of it. Some of these may be a bit stronger with wind, lightning and hail, but this batch should remain isolated. Later this evening the front will plow through the area bringing with it another threat at stronger thunderstorms. Timing of the frontal passage and storm chance is after 6pm, at that point any storms that develop, especially north of I-40, may pack an additional punch of wind, hail, lightning and heavy rain. The front will be clear and east of here by midday Thursday setting us up for a decent wrap up to the week. We'll still be warm, close to 90°, but much less humid. That trend lasts through Saturday before a slim chance at storms and mid 90s return Sunday and Monday.

Be well and have a great Wednesday!
