Scattered showers are likely today with heavy rain arriving late tonight.
MEMPHIS WEATHER--Happy "Pre-Friday" everyone! Grab the umbrella this morning and don't put it away! Scattered light showers will continue off and on throughout the day today. Temperatures will top out in the mid 70's. As our weather system closes in on the Mid-South later today, heavier rain will overspread much of northern Mississippi and the metro area late tonight. Heavy rain will continue overnight and into Friday morning's commute. Temperatures will be much cooler Friday with highs in the upper 50's. Something to note: temperatures will drop throughout the day Friday. Therefore, dress for temperatures in the upper 40's.

This weather-maker will sit and spin across the Mid-South for a couple of days. Unfortunately, this means a potentially soggy and chilly weekend for Memphis In May. Cold air will wrap around the back side of this system, cooling temperatures into the upper 30's Friday night. Record lows are possible for our eastern Arkansas counties Friday night. Temperatures will remain chilly and below normal over the weekend. Scattered showers will be possible Saturday and Sunday, but they should be light. Temperatures begin to moderate and warm up into the middle of next week.
