Heavy Rain Will Continue Through Early Afternoon

Some Mid-South locations have received 2-4 inches of rain and more will fall from this slow-moving weather system.
MEMPHIS WEATHER--Flash flooding is the primary threat in the Mid-South this morning where pockets of heavy rain continue to fall in water-logged areas. Some locations in the Mid-South have received 2"-4" of rain and an additional 1"-3" is possible through early afternoon. Breezy westerly winds have caused temperatures to fall and highs today will be significantly cooler than the last few days. Temperatures will be in the mid 50's for the majority of the day. Rain will begin to let up in the Memphis metro area by early afternoon with rain hanging on to our eastern counties into the early evening. A strong storm cannot be ruled out across extreme northeast Mississippi later this morning as the atmosphere in that are is still unstable.

Clouds will eventually move out of the area after 9 p.m. tonight. Sunshine will return tomorrow, but temperatures will remain below average into the weekend. The Mid-South will return to 80-degree weather by early next week with isolated showers returning to the forecast by then as well. Have a great and a safe Thursday!
