Rain Chances Return To The Mid-South

Isolated showers/storms will pop up mainly south of I-40 this afternoon.
MEMPHIS WEATHER-- Good Thursday morning everyone! It will be a mild and muggy start to the day. A weak frontal boundary will drop into the Mid-South from the north this afternoon. Pop-up showers and storms will be likely, mainly along and south of I-40. The Storm Prediction Center highlights parts of northeast MS in a slight risk for severe storms. Throughout the afternoon, winds will begin to shift to the northwest, helping to keep temperatures across northern counties in the upper 80's to near 90 degrees. Relatively drier air will work from north to south into the area by tonight and will help to briefly cool down temperatures.

Highs Friday will only top out in the mid and upper 80's, providing us with a much needed break from the heat. However, the heat returns by Father's Day with a slight chance for a shower late Sunday. Daily rain chances will be possible next week.
