Rainy and chilly weather ahead for the Midsouth

Umbrellas and jackets will come in handy next day or two
MEMPHIS WEATHER--Rain became more widespread across the region today. That trend will continue even more so tonight and Friday as rain coverage increases across the area overnight and into the daytime Friday. While temperatures today were cooler due to the clouds and rain around, that trend will become more pronounced for Friday and into the weekend. We're anticipating high and low temperatures to be some 20-25 degrees below normal for Friday and Saturday. This translates into highs in the 50s and lows falling into the upper 30s and low 40s. ( Normal High should be 77, normal low 58 )
The most widespread and heaviest rain will fall overnight and into the morning hours Friday. Rain total will average around 1", with some places approaching 2 inches. Beyond the steady rainfall, some lingering showers will still be around into Friday afternoon and evening.
For the weekend, while no steady rain is expected, some scattered showers are possible both days, with chances a bit higher for Saturday than Sunday. Regardless if no rain falls, quite a bit of cloud cover will be around both days, with little in the way of sun expected either day. Sunday's highs should be closer to 60, but as noted, that's still well below the seasonal norms. By early next week, the pattern will become more "settled" across the Midsouth, with more in the way of sunshine returning starting Monday and continuing throughout next week. Temperatures will moderate as well, with 70s returning for highs by Tuesday.
