Some leftover showers this evening - Weekend turns dry and pleasant

Some showers here and there for the early evening hours, but a pleasant trend of weather returns for the weekend, with a very pleasant day shaping up for Mother's Day on Sunday.
MEMPHIS WEATHER-- The majority of the rain that fell over the region today occurred during the early morning hours. Still, scattered showers and thundershowers were around the region for the bulk of the daytime period. We'll have some leftover ones lingering into the early part of tonight, then just leftover cloud cover once we get a little beyond sunset. In Memphis, we had 1.06" inches of rain at the airport today, with a high of 77 degrees.
As we head into the weekend, the trend will be for cooler temperatures to return and we'll have more in the way of sunshine returning as well. Saturday will start off on the cloudy side, but as we get into the midday and afternoon hours, clouds will be thinning out, allowing for partly sunny skies. Temperatures will get kind of chilly Saturday Night, as lows fall to around 50 by daybreak Sunday. Mother's Day will offer us mostly sunny skies, albeit somewhat cooler than normal. A high of around 70 is expected for Sunday afternoon, which is about 10 degrees below the normal high. Quiet weather will prevail on into the first half of next week, with mostly sunny days and mostly clear nights. Highs will return to 80+ degrees starting on Tuesday, and lasting into the duration of next week.
