Warm & Breezy Today, Storms Mid-Week

Breezy southerly winds will continue to pump moisture and warm temperatures into the Mid-South.
MEMPHIS WEATHER--The start of our work week kicks off mild and breezy with dry conditions. Clouds will be on the increase as moisture continues to work into the area. Highs today will top out in the mid and upper 70's. On Tuesday, temperatures will climb near 80 degrees as the Mid-South gets firmly planted in a warm, moist air mass. You may even begin to feel a little humidity in the air. An isolated shower will be possible Tuesday afternoon, but the best chance for rain and storms will arrive Wednesday and Wednesday night.

The Storm Prediction Center has included the Mid-South in a slight risk for severe weather on Wednesday. A potent cold front will approach the Mid-South  Wednesday night and a line of strong storms is expected to develop along it. Isolated storms are likely to form during the afternoon out ahead of the evening line of storms and will have the potential to produce damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. This will be our first spring system to bring a severe weather threat to the Mid-South. It would be a good idea to dust off your NOAA weather radios and replace its batteries in the event severe warnings are issued on Wednesday.

Rain will continue into the first half of Thursday, but drier air will work into the area Thursday night. Cooler temperatures will arrive for the end of the week with highs on Friday only topping out in the lower 60's. The weekend looks mostly sunny and pleasant.
