Wintry Weather Likely In Parts Of The Mid-South

The Memphis metro area could pick up 1-2 inches of snow tonight. Higher amounts forecast for northern locations.
MEMPHIS WEATHER--Good Thursday everyone! Dress warm today! Arctic air has pushed into the Mid-South overnight resulting in very chilly temperatures. Clouds will begin to move into the area this by mid-morning and will keep temperatures on the cold side this afternoon. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most counties in West TN and East AR for this evening through tomorrow morning. Snow and ice accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible in locations within the advisory area. Higher amounts will be found across northern and northwestern portions of the Mid-South where heavier bursts of snow may be found late tonight. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for parts of northeastern Arkansas to include Poinsett county in the Mid-South. Snow accumulations will be on the order of 3-4 inches in this area.

Milder air will spread northward Friday morning and will change all precipitation over to rain for Friday. Friday will be a cold, dreary, rainy day in the Mid-South. Temperatures will also be cold tomorrow, but temperatures will surge Saturday into the upper 50's. Rain and storm chances will continue through the weekend. Colder air will begin to filter into the Mid-South Sunday as our rain-maker departs the region. However, there may be a brief opportunity for snow along and north of I-40. Sunshine will return next week, but temperatures will stay below average with highs in the 50's.
