Annual Beale Street Wine Race Kicks Off Spring Season

The annual Beale Street Merchants Association Wine Race will take place on Sunday, April 28th at 1:00 p.m., and traditionally kicks off Memphis in May and the spring season.

(Memphis, TN) The annual Beale Street Merchants Association Wine Race will take place on Sunday, April 28th at 1:00 p.m., and traditionally kicks off Memphis in May and the spring season. This event brings together restaurant employees from across the city for an afternoon of friendly competition and spirited fun. 

The festivities include a parade in which each restaurant dons creative costumes in theme with the event, a Queen of the Vine contest, the wine stomp, and -‑ of course -‑  the Great Wine Race itself  This is not only fun to watch, but messy too.  

Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, and media recognition. 

The event’s sponsors include the Beale Street Merchants Association, Barefoot Wine, Delta Wholesale, David Lynch, Bevinco, EasyWay, Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau, US Foodservice, Smith Fixture Co., The New Daisy Theatre, Dingo Entertainment, Cintas, Turner Dairy, Black Lion Security, Performa Entertainment Real Estate Inc., and the City of Memphis.

The Fifth Annual Beale Street Wine Race Poster by local artist David Lynch will be available with signed and numbered prints available for sale in Beale Street Gift Shops and Midtown Framing & Art.  There are also copies of the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 posters (also by David Lynch) available.
