The Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County recently announced several ways supporters can help raise funds for the organization this holiday season.
Adopt-an-Angel: Commemorative angel ornaments will be available for purchase after Thanksgiving. The $25 purchase of each ornament, which features a photo of a longtime HSMSC resident, enables the purchaser to sponsor the cost of that animal's care for the holiday season. Each sponsored animal will then have a card on his kennel listing the name of his benefactor. Visit 935 Farm Road or call 901-937-3900 to purchase your ornament.
Humane Greetings holiday cards: For a donation of $10 per card, HSMSC will send holiday greeting cards to designated recipients. The front of the card features a dog and cat holding up their paws, with text reading, “Deck the Paws.” The inside of the card reads: “Wishing you a PAWSitively fabulous holiday season! A donation has been made in your name to the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County. Warmest Greetings.” Call 901-937-3903 or email pfoster@memphishumane.org to purchase holiday cards.
Winter Wonderland free family fun days: On Saturday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., HSMSC invites families to its facility for fun amidst a winter wonderland setting. This free event will feature crafts, hot chocolate, a ride on the grounds on Thomas the Train, giveaways and more! Photos with Santa are available for $25, which includes the sitting fee, one print, a CD of images, and entry to win a family gift basket. No reservations are necessary, and kids and pets are welcome.
Shopping through AdoptAShelter.com: HSMSC recognizes the importance of shopping locally and encourages its supporters to shop locally whenever possible. However, for the times when online shopping is required, supporters can help raise funds for HSMSC with their purchases by shopping through AdoptAShelter.com. From this site, users can choose a shelter to adopt (choose "Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County") and then choose from hundreds of online retailers. Through AdoptAShelter.com, each of these retailers will donate a percentage of the sale to HSMSC.
