MEMPHIS, Tennessee, June 17, 2013 – It was announced today that Chief Meteorologist Paul Williams and Meteorologist Sean Parker will be joining WATN-TV (ABC) and WLMT-TV (CW) serving the Memphis, TN DMA 49, and WJKT-TV (FOX) serving the Jackson, TN DMA 176, and each station’s associated digital services.Mr. Williams and Mr. Parker join forces with morning meteorologist Lauren Raymer to form the mid-south’s MOST ACCURATE weather team… as designated by the only independent accuracy monitoring service in the country, WeatheRate.

With entirely new and expanded weather production facilities, the Local 24 weather team will offer all forecasts in high definition, with enhanced meteorological forecasting technology and advanced weather presentation equipment. The significant investment in completely upgrading all aspects of the weather operations at WATN and WLMT highlights the stations’ commitment to weather forecasting excellence for local viewers.

Mr. Williams comes to Memphis with 17 years of mid-south experience serving the Jackson, Mississippi market. He has forecasted tropical storms and tracked tornados and severe weather throughout the nation. He began his career in Jackson, at WJTV-TV, before moving to WLBT-TV, also in Jackson. After stops at KDSK-TV in ST. Louis and WTIC-TV in Hartford, Connecticut where he added forecasting in Spanish to his resume, Williams returned to WLBT-TV. With nearly 30-years broadcasting experience, Williams has been awarded the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval. “I’m happy to be joining the local team known for it’s forecasting accuracy and excellence predicting severe weather”, said Mr. Williams. “I have a passion for tracking severe storms and alerting local families to help keep them safe. Local means I will be here for our community. My wife and I are excited to make our home in Memphis.”

Mr. Parker, also a member of the American Meteorological Society, arrives from Tallahassee, Florida with extensive experience forecasting some of the most difficult weather in the country. “I enjoy the challenge of accurately tracking difficult weather patterns”, said Mr. Parker. “Predicting the unique weather found in the Mid-South will be an exciting and rewarding experience.” Mr. Parker credits time in Colorado as well as Boston with helping him gain valuable forecasting experience.

Commenting on the new meteorologists, News Director Lisa Lovell said, “With our all new state-of-the-art facilities and advanced forecasting equipment, adding two experienced meteorologists to work with Lauren will give us the ability to forecast faster and more accurately than ever before.
