LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State Police say a car has struck a group of cyclists on a cross-country trip, injuring seven people.
Police were called Tuesday afternoon to a crash scene on State Highway 17 near McCroy. Police say a vehicle traveling northbound slammed into the back of a group of 13 cyclists.
Three of the injured cyclists have been airlifted to hospitals in Little Rock and Memphis, and four others were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The driver was not injured, and police say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
Police say the cyclists were on a cross-country trip organized Overland Summer Camps of Williamstown, Mass. They say the cyclists began their trip in Charleston, S.C., and were to finish up in Santa Monica, Calif.
