CONWAY, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - Authorities in central Arkansas say a woman stabbed her 8-year-old granddaughter in the chest before lighting her home on fire this weekend in an apparent murder-suicide.
Faulkner County Sheriff's spokesman Maj. Andy Shock said Monday the state medical examiner ruled that Janice Robbins stabbed her granddaughter, Abby Robbins, in the chest before lighting the home on fire on Saturday morning. Both the woman and her granddaughter died.
Shock says authorities found two gas cans in the home. He also said Janice Robbins left notes in her vehicle that authorities found. Shock says part of the note said Robbins couldn't stand to leave Abby behind.
Janice Robbins adopted Abby after the girl's father died in Iraq in 2005.
