MURFREESBORO, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - A Rosston couple who found a 2.44-carat diamond at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro has had the stone appraised.

Park officials said Tuesday Melissa and Kenny Oliver decided to get the stone cut, making it a 1.06-carat, pear-shaped diamond. It has an appraised value of $21,639.

Park officials say the Olivers hope to sell the Silver Moon diamond at some point.

The Crater of Diamonds State Park is the world's only diamond-producing site open to the public. On average, two diamonds are found each day at the park, and more than 75,000 have been unearthed.
