OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - A man pleaded guilty Monday to driving under the influence in the crash that killed two University of Mississippi students in October 2012.

John Howard Strickland Jr. was sentenced in Lafayette County Circuit Court to serve 12 years in jail. Another 13 years was suspended.

Siblings John and Sarah Wheat died after the vehicle Strickland was driving crossed a median and struck their car head-on.

Prosecutors say Strickland was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the accident.
