JeffersonTao. If these people know they lack the skills and means to raise a child, then they shouldn't have kids. Our government and taxpayers should not be responsible to raise children. Social programs are bankrupting our country and produce a mindset of laziness. It's generational, children see their parents getting a gov't handout instead of working and sacrificing, so they do the same when they grow older. Some members of society need to put on their big boy pants and take responsibility themselves.

Begging to differ, vote2012. Programs like these have been successful in other cities. People are not born with social skills, job training, and anger management tools, they are acquired. In these hard economic times, the pressure on young parents is greater than ever. Investing in our communities in positive ways is not a waste and benefits us all in the long run.

Seriously!? A government program is needed with taxpayer dollars to make men better fathers? Your either a good father or not, that can't be taught. Another prime example of gov't waste.
