Judge Denies Request To Move Trial For Ark. Woman

A northeast Arkansas judge has denied a request to move the trial of a Jonesboro woman charged in a plot to kill her husband.
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - A northeast Arkansas judge has denied a request to move the trial of a Jonesboro woman charged in a plot to kill her husband.

Circuit Judge Victor Hill rejected Michelle Despain's request in an order dated Tuesday.

Despain's lawyers have expressed concern about news coverage of the case, but Hill wrote that he hasn't detected any bias against Despain in the news.

Despain is charged with capital murder for her role in the 2011 shooting death of her husband, Marc Despain. Three other people charged in the case pleaded guilty and have been sentenced to prison.

One of Despain's lawyers, Bill Stanley, didn't immediately return a phone call Wednesday.

Prosecutor Scott Ellington said the state believes Despain can get a fair trial in Craighead County.
