TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A Tupelo karate instructor and former candidate for state office is free on $25,000 bond after pleading not guilty to charges of fondling children.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports Friday that 41-year-old James Everett Dutschke entered the plea April 15 to charges involving inappropriate contact with three girls younger than 16. The alleged incidents took place between 2007 and January of 2013, when he is charged with fondling a 7-year-old girl.
Dutschke was a Republican candidate for the Mississippi House of Representatives in 2007. He lost the race.
His attorney was contacted Friday by The Associated Press and declined to comment.
As a condition of bond, Dutschke was ordered to have no contact with minors unless they are members of his family.
