Landmark Restaurant Closed, Future Uncertain

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - For the time being, there will be no more Breakfast at Brennan's in New Orleans. Or lunch or dinner either.

The French Quarter dining landmark was closed Friday amid the long-running feud among Brennan family members.

Owen "Pip" Brennan, a son of the founder, retains control of Brennan's Inc., and his lawyer says he hopes to re-open in a new location - although his ownership of shares in the corporation remains in dispute by his brother Ted and Ted's daughter Bridget.

Their cousin Ralph Brennan said Friday that he and an associate have taken control of the Brennan's building, which was acquired in a foreclosure sale. A spokesman said they hope to open a new restaurant there but there is no timetable worked out yet, as the legal battles continue.
