JACKSON, TN (abc24.com) - Two correctional officers with the Madison County Sheriff's Office have been suspended after an inmate under their care committed suicide.

34-year-old Tamara Taylor and 27-year-old Josh Hogg are both suspended with pay pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing. Both are accused of failing to make the required observation checks for an inmate under suicide watch.

24-year-old Jonathan Lee Carter was found dead in his cell after he hung himself on December 20, 2011. He had been placed in isolation after he threatened to kill himself earlier that day.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation into Carter's death.

The correctional officer's hearing is scheduled for Jan. 11th.

I don't want to sound like a hater, but who seriously cares that this scumbag killed himself? In my opinion, it's his god-given right to end his own life. Here's a good rule to live by: Never feel sorry for anyone who has teardrop tattoos on his face.

these two should be put back to work and given a " bonus" check for saving the tax payers 100's of thousands of dollars.
