Man Arrested After Falsely Claiming He Killed His Father

A man was arrested over the weekend after deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) got a call that he was claiming to have choked his father to death.
FAIRVIEW, AR (KARK) -- A man was arrested over the weekend after deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office got a call that he was claiming to have choked his father to death.

MCSO says the caller reported that Kyle Riggs claimed he had killed his father and would be waiting for officers at the Fairview Cemetery.

After not finding Riggs at the cemetery, officers found him with a hunting knife and used syringe outside his home, with his father asleep inside, according to MCSO.

The suspect's father told officers that Riggs had been talking "crazy," exhibiting odd behavior and even threatening to kill him with a chopping ax.

MCSO says Riggs admitted to officers that he had been using meth excessively for the past few days and wanted officers to kill him.

He was arrested and charged with communicating a false alarm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
