NEW ALBANY, Miss. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to killing the wife of the New Albany High School football coach.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that 22-year-old Craig O'Brien Baker appeared in court Wednesday in New Albany. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
By pleading guilty to murder, Baker avoids a capital murder trial and the possibility of the death penalty for the slaying of 31-year-old Amanda Price.
She was shot to death outside her family's Union County home Dec. 5, 2011. Her husband, Ron Price, was wounded in the shoulder.
Baker pleaded guilty to other charges, including aggravated assault. He would be eligible for parole on the murder conviction by age 65 but would then have to serve 20 years for aggravated assault.
