DALTON, Ark. (AP) - Randolph County authorities say a man who lost his sight to a gunshot a decade ago is on a ventilator and unable to speak about what led to his being shot last week while out walking.

Judy King said Wednesday that her son, 38-year-old Timothy King, was in serious condition at a hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and is on a ventilator.

Judy King says her son was walking on a rural road near Dalton when a man drove up and shot him. The shooter's name hasn't been released.

The Jonesboro Sun reports state police are investigating and will turn over their findings to a prosecutor who will decide on any charges.

Judy King says she doubts an account that alleges her son had a gun and threatened a motorist.
