Freese To Join Redbirds For Rehab Assignment

St. Louis Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny still hopes to have David Freese ready to go for their home opening game April 8.
MEMPHIS, TN (Memphis Redbirds) – St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese is expected to join the Redbirds on Thursday, April 4 as part of an injury rehabilitation assignment for a lower back strain.

Freese has been working back to full game mode after tumbling into the stands while trying to make a catch on March 4 at a Spring Training game in Jupiter, Florida. He last appeared in a Grapefruit League game on March 22.

The 2011 World Series MVP has played in 191 games in a Redbirds uniform while picking up a PCL Championship in 2009. Freese hit .303 (.205-for-677) with 36 home runs and 129 RBIs over that span.
