BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Brandon Hayes ran for 127 yards and three scores and Jacob Karam lobbed three touchdown passes as Memphis routed Alabama-Birmingham 46-9 Saturday in Conference USA action.

Hayes kicked off the scoring just over six minutes in, capping a 66-yard drive with a 7-yard TD run. The Tigers (3-8, 3-4) led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter after Karam threw TD passes of 30 and 25 yards to Keiwone Malone and Alan Cross, respectively.

Karam found Jesse Milleson for a 2-yard touchdown pass with 6:41 left in the second quarter for a 28-3 halftime lead. The quarterback finished 14-of-16 passing for 147 yards.

The Blazers managed just 26 yards on the ground and 213 total. Kennard Backman scored UAB's lone TD on a 4-yard pass from Austin Brown with 6:00 left. Memphis blocked the extra-point try and returned it for two points and the final 46-9 advantage.
