Tiger Nation Mourns the Loss of Bobby Parks

It's a sad day for Memphis basketball fans. Former Tigers standout forward Bobby Parks died in a Manila metro area hospital in the Philippines Saturday afternoon, losing his battle with laryngeal cancer.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - It's a sad day for Memphis basketball fans. Former Tigers standout forward Bobby Parks died in a Manila metro area hospital in the Philippines Saturday afternoon, losing his battle with laryngeal cancer.

Parks played for then Memphis State from 1980 through 1984, during which he was named to the Sporting News Honorable Mention Team in 1983.

He scored 12 double-doubles in his career, and is in the top 20 for all-time Tigers scoring 1,000 points or more.

Number 22 was a Grand Junction, Tennessee native, and always kept ties with the program while becoming one of the most legendary players in the Philippines Basketball Association.

He was 51-years-old. Memorial services are still pending.
