MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A controversial Cordova club is back open for business. Stella Marris, now called City Hall, reopened on New Year's Eve.

For years people who lived in Cordova feared the former Stella Marris would someday be turned into a strip club. Now that the club has reopened, those fears have returned.

There is a new name, but it's still owned by well known strip club owner Steve Cooper.

The Cordova Leadership Council has had their eye on this property from the beginning. Before the former Stella Marris ever opened for business, rumors swirled the property would someday be a strip club.

Truth is to date, it has never been a strip club. But it doesn't stop those in the community from thinking it might happen someday.

The question is will the new name change old impressions?

Truth is this 'City Hall', and the official one downtown, have one thing in common: all employees are expected to keep their clothes on.
