3 Wanted for Stealing Mail from S. Memphis Post Office

One person has been arrested and investigators are searching for three more suspects, all accused of stealing mailed checks from a south Memphis post office.

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - One person has been arrested and investigators are searching for three more suspects, all accused of stealing mailed checks from a south Memphis post office.

Memphis police are investigating more than 20 reports of stolen mail from the U.S. Post Office at 193 East Mitchell Road, which occurred between September 2012 and January 2013. Investigators with the Economic Crimes Bureau state that letters containing checks were stolen from indoor and outdoor mailboxes at the post office, then altered and cashed y the suspects.

Through prints and video surveillance, police issued warrants for four suspects.

Chaiesha Smith, 24, was arrested and charged with Forgery, Theft of Property and Theft of Services.

Memphis police are searching for the following three suspects:

  • Talisha Merritt, 25, on charges of Forgery and Theft
  • Erica Joseph, 22, on charges of Forgery and Attempted Theft of Property
  • Tiffany Williams, 28, on charges of Forgery and Attempted Theft of Property
