MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - The man behind the Bass Pro/Pyramid deal said there is going to be another major attraction coming to the riverfront.

It's hard to remember when anything was happening at The Pyramid.

It's been more than ten years since anything was dribbled or punched or plunked inside.

What has been happening over the last year and a half was drilling and welding and scrubbing

“We've done our work. We've done the seismic, we've done the outside, they've got a clean building that they wanted for them to determine what they want to do. We turned the building over to them as of last week,” Robert Lipscomb of Memphis Housing & Development said.

Now the work is almost all on the inside, Pinch District business people might be wondering if there's anything going on at all. But Lipscomb said get ready.

“They've let the bids out to do the work. Those bids will be back probably by October first, so that's the next great step in this whole project,” Lipscomb said.

They've already made some design changes, deciding to go with cabins inside the pyramid for a hotel and not rooms attached to the side of the building. There are also other changes planned.

Instead of having an outside inclinator which has always been the plan, it'll be an outside sky ride. The top of the building will also have a two level restaurant. Also included in the plans are an aquarium and a plexiglass walkway.

It'll also have company.

“We're getting ready to put a major attraction there. So this is just a start to making sure Memphis is given its rightful place as a major tourist attraction...the city of Memphis,” Lipscomb said.
