MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police are investigating a body of a man found in a trunk by Memphis International Airport Wednesday evening.

Officers found the body in the trunk of a 2001 Mazda Millennium near Goodhaven Drive and Airways Blvd around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2. Investigators say the male victim, later identified as 22-year-old Brian Henderson, had been shot.

"That car has been there about 3 to four days. It was there during the rain," said a neighbor. "Initially the emergency lights were on."

The neighbor said several police cars and a tow truck were on the scene and the car was eventually towed away. Investigators determined the murder occurred on Sunday, December 30, near Airways and Shelby Drive.

"Police officers patrol here all the time, and I don't understand how someone got the upper hand on the cops - that is not good," she said.

A person of interest is in custody, but no charges have been filed. An MPD spokesperson stated this case is the first homicide of 2013.
