CBHS Apologizes After Inappropriate Comment Posted On Website

Some say "shame shame" on Christian Brothers High School, after a student posted an inappropriate and offensive comment.
MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - Some say "shame shame" on Christian Brothers High School, after a student posted an inappropriate and offensive comment.

It was posted on the school's live webcast during Friday nights game against the Southaven Chargers.

"It's certainly not by any means a representation of the boys that go there. They're good kids," Lori Raburn, mom of a former CBHS student said.

That may be...but one student made the decision to post the comment

And a teacher copied it, and sent it to all CBHS faculty and staff

The comment in question was in the description of the live web stream of the Southaven vs. CBHS web stream. It said, “The Purple Wave take on the Southaven Crackheads.”

"It sounds like they need to have a talk with em about what's ok to put up in the website and what's not ok,” Raburn said.

CBHS officials released a statement to Local 24 news, calling the "crackhead" nickname "inappropriate and disrespectful". They went on to say, "our teacher involved accepts responsibility for this unfortunate error and we will recalibrate our process to insure this does not happen again. Furthermore, the student involved will be held accountable for his irresponsible decision."

"You don't think at 15 through 18...so you never think at that age," Trey Mackey said.

That may be true, but the Christian Brothers vision, according to their website, says, "decisions must be guided by a moral compass that is instilled on a day to day basis in our classrooms"

Apparently this student left his moral compass at home that day.
