Citizens Pose More Questions for Southaven Mayor

Many are concerned and curious about recent filings by the mayor's ex-wife. They accuse Greg Davis of altering his pay records during the couple's divorce in 2010.
SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - Southaven citizens have more questions for Southaven Mayor Greg Davis. Many are concerned and curious about recent filings by the mayor's ex-wife. They accuse Davis of altering his pay records during the couple's divorce in 2010.

The Concerned Citizens for Southaven formed about a year ago, right after the investigation into Davis' spending. Members have been very vocal at past board meetings and plan to continue.

"From what we understand, we're going to have a pretty good turnout on this meeting tonight. People have emailed me, called me they're fed up with this," says Linda Temple. She's upset over recent affidavits filed by Southaven aldermen and the police chief accusing Mayor Greg Davis of having a city employee alter his payroll records during his divorce in 2010.

"One of my primary issues before the aldermen tonight is for the mayor to stop using city employees in attempts to corrupt the system."

The matter goes to court in March, but citizens like Temple have questions now.

"I'm asking the aldermen if the mayor, as part of his duty is in charge of personnel, then that that duty be taken away from him."

Southaven aldermen say what happened took place two years ago and city policy has changed. The accusation is being added to the state auditor's ongoing investigation into the mayor and his money.

"So far this investigation between him and the FBI is ongoing. They need to speed it up, we as citizens want that done. We don't see it happening. We're encouraging them to go forward with this because certainly it is putting a damper on the reputation of our city, not only statewide but nationally."

The mayor, his ex-wife and their lawyers are bound by a gag order preventing them from discussing the case with the media.
