Domestic Violence Suspect Jailed after Punching, Biting Police

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) - A Memphis woman fought the law, and the law won.

Police responded to a domestic violence call where a man's live-in girlfriend was throwing items at him, with one object cutting his head. When officers arrived, the suspect, 31-year-old Laquita Hathaway, appeared to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol and was behaving erratically.

According to the police affidavit, Hathaway was ordered to drop a kitchen knife she was holding when she started swinging. She punched two officers in the mouth and one officer in the face. She also bit on of the officers in the knee as they were trying to restrain her.

Laquita Hathaway was arrested and transported to The MED, then booked at the Shelby County Jail on charges of Assault, Domestic Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
