MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - FedEx employees in line for the voluntary buyout could find out by the close of business Tuesday if their request has been accepted.

Sources confirm with ABC 24 News that the company has completed the proper administrative steps, advancing the notification date.

A voluntary separation package includes 4 weeks of salary for every year worked, with the maximum buyout capped at 26 years of employment. Workers can also get $25,000 in healthcare benefits if they don't qualify for Medicare.

The Memphis-based company offered the buyout to around 1,000 employees in an effort to cut costs.
