MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A former home care employee has been convicted of rape and abuse for forcing her mentally retarded patient to perform sex acts.
Tawana Jones, 35, was found guilty of rape and willful abuse of a vulnerable adult.
Investigators say Jones forced a 32-year-old male patient in her care to perform sex acts with her sometime between January and March 2011. Jones confronted the patient in his bedroom and stripped naked, then after sexually abusing him told him not to tell anyone what had happened.
The care facility stated the patient is diagnosed with mental retardation and has the mental capacity of a six-year-old.
Tawana Jones faces up to 36 years in prison.
