Fundraiser Held at El Toro Loco for Family of Aaron Vasquez

Dozens gathered for a fundraiser at El Toro Loco restaurant in memory of Aaron Vasquez.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Dozens gathered for a fundraiser at El Toro Loco restaurant in memory of Aaron Vasquez.

"Have a lot of bands coming in town to play with us so it's gonna be fun and were gonna be raising money for a great cause for the loss of a great young man," said Lou Nesta of The Memphis Blues Revue.

Lou Nesta says they're happy to host a fundraiser for the family of Aaron Vasquez. The 19-year-old Vasquez was stabbed to death March 23 while taking out the trash at El Toro Loco in East Memphis. Police have arrested Cordricus Arnold, charging him with First Degree Murder.

"Nothing will bring Aaron back and he was a really great person but the relief of having him caught, it helps and also helped the employees here. They feel more secure, you know. It just feels like justice. We thank Memphis police for doing their job," said Camilo Alvarez of El Toro Loco.

Alverez says Vasquez enjoyed being a waiter and would even play his guitar with live bands performing at the restaurant. This is the second fundraiser for the Vasquez family.
"It means a lot to Aaron's parents to have the grandparents here so that's what the focus is, to help with whatever money that they need for burial or bringing up the remainder of the family," said Mitch McCracken, who attended the event.

Dozens enjoyed the live music and dancing the night away, while donating for a good cause.

"We were intrigued by coming out and being apart of it and being inspired that people would come out do something like this in spite of something bad happening, you know," said Garry Nesbit.

"It means so much to us as a band and a music community to help his family and keep his memory alive," said Lou Nesta.
