MEMShop Celebrates Grand Opening of 3 New Businesses

Three new MEMshop businesses opened their doors for the first time during Broad Avenue's Spring Art Walk.
MEMPHIS, TN ( - "Just to check out what's going on in Memphis. There are a lot of really cool things going on. See the artwork, see the local shops, just support everybody," said Jeremy Harris, one of dozens who attended the grand opening of three new MEMshop businesses during Broad Avenue's Spring Art Walk.

They include everything from soap stores, made-in-Memphis clothing shops, to art galleries.

"Well since today is our grand opening we have some free goodies, which is massage candles to our first 50 customers," said co-owner of My Heavenly Creations, Shalene McLeughlin.

The Five in One Social Club is a made-in-Memphis retail store that offer weekly creative classes. "We've been looking to expand our business and it just seemed like an awesome opportunity," said owner Alice Laskey-Castoe.

Also opening was a new art gallery, NJ Woods Gallery and Design. "A lot of my paintings are the pictures of what I saw back then back in the day at my grandmother's house," said NJ Woods.

Not only did those at the art walk enjoy the new businesses, they also got a chance to check out some artwork, live bands, and the 4th annual "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes", where men walked the streets in heels to raise awareness and support for victims of domestic abuse.
