Memphis Takes Tips from Philadelphia to Get Tough on Young Thugs

We have the Liberty Bowl. Philadelphia has the Liberty Bell. Other than brotherly love, Memphis and Philly don't have much in common - except for crime. We've got plenty, they've got plenty, and Memphis Mayor A C Wharton wanted to know how they handle things.

What did Wharton learn by taking that (expensive taxpayer funded) trip that he could not have read on the internet for free? Just wondering how much tax money was spent for him and his friends to go? (tickets, rooms, rental cars, food, etc)

It's a hard task ahead. I really think Mayor Wharton is trying. The only thing Herenton was interested in is what kind of crooked shinanigans he could get into to make a buck, PERIOD! I still think hiring Blackwater USA for one year would just about alleviate the crime problem.

Sounds like a good plan. It could help *IF* all of the judges will cooperate. I have not been impressed with anything Wharton has done as mayor. The only good thing I've seen is that he's not Herenton. And that's not saying much, as Herenton was nothing more than a thug in a suit. But I digress...

Philadelphia has a great mayor; he is black and does not pamper the career criminals or the violent street thugs and he is making a difference in Philadelphia. I hope we emulate the tough stance he has brought to his city and make Memphis a city that the citizens can be proud to live in once again.

So let me get this straight - Memphis has a high crime rate, so they are going to go to another city with another high crime rate, and implement the same programs that aren't working there? Brilliant government thugs!
