Mental Evaluation Ordered for Germantown Murder Suspect

Friends of a murdered Mid-South teacher say they want her husband to never forget what happened.
GERMANTOWN, TN (abc24.com) - Friends of a murdered Mid-South teacher say they want her husband to never forget what happened.

Christopher Jones appeared briefly in Germantown court Wednesday night. He is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his estranged wife, Heather Palumbo-Jones.

Jones led investigators to his wife's body last week after confessing to killing her during a fight. Sources say she was strangled and her body burned.

"We are here for Heather," said Joanna Young. "Where he is put away, I don't know what he thinks about during the day, but if we can just be there to remind him of what he's done, that's what we need to do."

The judge has ordered a mental evaluation for Jones. He will be back in court next month.
