19-year-old Dwayne Moore is accused of shooting and killing his stepfather, Ridgeway High School Assistant Basketball Coach Jimmy McClain.
MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - 19-year-old Dwayne Moore is accused of shooting and killing his stepfather, Ridgeway High School Assistant Basketball Coach Jimmy McClain.

"I was very shocked," said Moore's ex-girlfriend, Heather Feemster. She says Moore "was real sweet, loving, caring, always did the gentlemen thing opened the doors and did all that good stuff."

Shelby County Sheriff's detectives say Moore shot and killed McClain with a 40 caliber handgun.

Feemster told abc24.com she was with Moore two days before McClain's body was discovered. "He was acting pretty funny. It was nerve-racking because I didn't know that night something happened. It was very weird." Feemster said. "He was like, sorry and apologetic, saying that he'll always be there for me."

According to Feemster, Moore called her around 10 p.m. on February 20 and asked her to come to his house.

"I walk in his room, I look on the dresser and I see this big gauze packages and I see detox stuff, something out of the ordinary I've never seen before apparently, because he wounded himself on his left side. We talked and acted like something bad was on his mind."

"He was favoring his right side. When he leaned to his left side he kind of said ouch. I was like, 'What's wrong?' He said don't ask questions. I said ok. I didn't ask questions."

Shelby County Sheriff Bill Oldham isn't saying what he thinks led to Moore to kill McClain. Moore isn't cooperating with authorities.

Dwayne Moore is in jail on a $2 million bond.
