Off-Duty State Trooper Killed in Senatobia

An off-duty Mississippi State Trooper was killed in a motorcycle accident in Senatobia late Tuesday morning.
SENATOBIA, MS (localmemphis.com) - An off-duty Mississippi State Trooper was killed in a motorcycle accident in Senatobia late Tuesday morning. The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, at the intersection of West and Main.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers at the scene, trooper Eric Lentz was killed when another vehicle hit his motorcycle while turning at the intersection. The 47-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lentz, who was originally from New York, had been with the highway patrol for over 17 years. Lentz was assigned to Tate County. His career with the Department of Public Safety also included 12 years service with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

He leaves behind a wife, son, and daughter.

The accident is still being investigated at this time.
